The Colour Code

Navratri has brought special energy in the atmosphere; especially in the female folks. The colour code for clothes to be worn during the nine days were declared…a different colour for a different day. We can observe that almost 80% ladies and to some extent even gents follow this colour code religiously and enthusiastically. It began with the colour green on the first day. In the train the entire compartment was washed in all the possible hues of green. Beautiful and wonderful ladies, girls chic in their saaries and traditional dresses; some who were in western formals also had taken care that they are incorporating the ‘green’ in some or another form in their outfits. The festive atmosphere had enveloped the surroundings. The green also had spread on the roads and in the office as well.  The same story continued on consecutive days with pink, grey, white, red, blue, yellow, purple and finally peacock green. Actually these colours are the ones which are draped on the Goddess on the particular day. I found these ladies in the colour code beaming with divine happiness and energy. The glory of enjoying their distinct still close to heart relation with the Mother, through this colour gave them a unique charm. In our culture there is a cult which follows Shakti puja in the form of Goddess worship….a goddess can be directly related to females. I generally believe that the almighty resides in all the objects around us; though my Mom thinks this is just an excuse I give for not doing pooja everyday! When I see these ladies around me beaming with the colour code I realize my belief very strongly. I feel as if I am seeing goddess in various forms around me and wonder how do I miss this factor in them on a usual day! Such a nice feeling, such a pleasing discovery of existence of the Shakti around me…especially when I am also following the colour code J.
